I am, sadly, currently unemployed. For reasons completely beyond my control, actually. I found out last year that I have a disability that stopped me from working in the industry I was in, which was aged care.
I did like it when I was there, for the most part. If you could ignore the regulations that have been put in place that make the job worse, then that was a bonus. It was physical, and different every day and it gave me the feeling that I was actually making a difference. The good residents balanced out the bad ones, and some of the people I worked with were nice.
But aged care wasn't anything I ever thought I'd get into. It was meant to be temporary, but it turned into five or six years of a career. I couldn't ever picture myself doing a straight 9-to-5 job, really. I know I'll settle on something eventually, but until I find that something, I think I'll just keep switching, to be honest. Who knows? Maybe something will drop on me like aged care did. If not, then I'll settle in the next few years. :)
